Ham a Holiday Tradition and what to do with the leftovers.
There are so many holidays that traditionally serve ham; Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter and these holidays are relatively close together so one can easily be all hammed out and not want to even look at it ever again. Well I am going to give you ideas of how to use your leftover ham in new ways so no one in your family will say “Ham again, ugh!”
How to add ham to Breakfast:
- Omelettes
- Quiche
- Breakfast Burritos
- Breakfast Cups
- Ham, Egg, & Cheese Biscuits
I could go on but you get the idea basically if you normally make it for breakfast just add some ham for some extra protein and deliciousness!
Now on to Lunch & Dinner ideas:
- Ham & Cheese Sandwiches (Try this recipe and let me know if you are able to eat just one.)
- Ham & Pineapple Pizza
- Ham, Pepperoni, and Mozzarella Calzones
- Ham & Cheese Crescents (One of my favorites)
- Cube up some ham and you have a great topping for salads, soups, and even baked potatoes!
I hope these ideas help with your leftover ham and I would love to know what is your favorite way to use Baked Ham?
Compassion
A few days ago I mentioned one of the organizations my family are involved in and you can read about it here. Today I wanted to share another great organizations we recently became apart of Compassion. If you haven’t heard about Compassion before it is a Child Sponsorship Program, Child Survival Program, Leadership Development Program, and so much more! My husband and I decided to a sponsor a little girl less than a year ago and so far we love it! We love the fact that because we choose to go through Compassion that she will be learning of Christ’s love for her. My favorite is writing little letters on behalf of my 3 year old and sending them to her. My daughter was so excited when she got a letter back. There are so many child sponsorship programs out there but I just wanted to say that the reason we choose Compassion is because of their Commitment to Christ, Children, and to Church. So when you’re looking into helping children out in some way please consider Compassion.

Romans 10:1-8
1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. 5 For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.”6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, ” ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
Life Lessons
- We should desire that others follow Jesus and find love and forgiveness.
- No one can ever truly be self righteous.
- We will never be declared innocent through good works.

Operation Christmas Child
Every year around the holidays you notice a rise in non-profit organizations advertising and it can get overwhelming on a person who wants to help in some way to choose who to support. So I thought I would take a moment to share with you one of the organizations my family support every year, Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child is part of Samaritan’s Purse where Franklin Graham has been the President since the 1980’s. OCC collects shoe boxes filled with much needed items for children and are sent all over the world. Most of all each child who receives a shoe box will also hear the Gospel and a chance to start a relationship with Jesus Christ.
My husband and I have been packing shoe boxes for years now and here are a few reasons why we do it:
- We love picking out the items that go in each box really thinking about what the children could use and would enjoy.
- We always choose to track our box because we just think it’s the coolest to know where our gift went. Once we know we end up looking up the country to find out more information about it. (We’re kinda nerdy like that.)
- Most importantly why we do this is the fact that we know that these wonderful children will be receiving the greatest gift of all, THE GOSPEL! (we also include a Bible in every box)
This year we decided to host a shoe box packing party at my house and it was so much fun I can’t wait to do it again next year!
So when considering where you want to give to this year I hope Operation Christmas Child will be on your list and you’re just in time because this week is National Collection Week.

Finding Your Fulfilling Purpose- Janell Kremer
An Interview with Janell Kremer author of the Mustard Seed Family.
Q: Share a little background about yourself.
A: My name is Janell Kremer and I blog at mustardseedfamily.com.
I am a Suzy homemaker, hairstylist, teacher, mom, and wife. My daughter is almost 20 months old, and I’ve enjoyed staying home with her this last year. My husband is a musician, Mr. Fix-it, and an IT guru. I am currently pregnant with our second child and we looking forward to meeting this little miracle in April of 2015.
My blog is about mom life, where you will find great recipes, diy projects, hair tutorials, and more. Besides all that fun stuff I also share some of my heart, and a lot of my faith. My goal as a blogger is to create a place of inspiration where we can encourage one another and follow God’s calling in our lives.
Q: For God has “called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which as given to us in Christ Jesus before time began” (2 Timothy 1:9) When and how did you know what God’s plan was for you?
A: It took me a while to find God’s plan (while learning to give up my own), and I think it’s a continuous process that we have to choose daily. I know that I’m doing what God has called me to do because of the peace that I feel in my soul. Besides feeling at peace I have also come across many attacks from the devil to get me off the path. Those roadblocks only confirmed that I am doing what God has called me to do.
Q: Once the Lord spoke to you about your purpose did you obey right away or did you struggle?
A: I’ve struggled with obeying. I consider myself to at times act like Jonah and run away from God’s plan because it was scary. Once I started to trust and obey, God rewarded my obedience by blessing me in some way.
Q: What obstacles did you have to overcome and/or still run into?
A: My main obstacle is self-image. I am 8 years into recovery from an eating disorder and although I don’t starve myself or make myself puke anymore, I still have those thoughts in my head that I’m worthless. God is teaching me to fight those thoughts with scripture, and I can’t explain how incredibly powerful that has been.
Q: Is what you are doing currently fulfilling? In what ways?
A: Each day I face new challenges and struggles, but I do believe that what I’m doing matters. I may not see the fruits of my labor right away, but I believe that my faithfulness to God’s calling will produce an abundance of fruit later on. Being a stay-at-home-mom has been the best job that I’ve ever had, and I feel fulfilled by watching my daughter grow and learn things that I have taught her. Blogging has opened me up to a world of wonderful Christ-filled moms who are very supportive and wise. I feel as if entering that world is fulfilled the drive in me to show my creative side, which is necessary in order to keep my life balanced.
Q: Do you recall a time when you lacked peace about a job or situation and how God delivered you out of it?
A: I took a job at a daycare when I first became pregnant with my daughter. I was hired during the first interview which I found odd. Throughout my training I had an uneasy feeling about the atmosphere of that daycare that only got stronger the longer I was there. After four days I was assaulted by a ten year old child and decided that was my confirmation that this was the wrong job for me. I quit on the spot and felt peace immediately after doing so.
Q: What advice to you have for women who are still searching to fulfill their purpose?
A: Keep praying for God to reveal His purpose. Seek in not only through prayer, but also by reading the word of God daily. Also, give up your plans. They may be hindering you from God’s best for your life. Your plans may sound wonderful but if they aren’t in line with God’s will, your plans will never succeed.
I want to thank Janell for allowing me to interview her and I recommend following her blog as I do myself!
