Finding Your Fulfilling Purpose- Janell Kremer

PSX_20140621_170124_wmAn Interview with Janell Kremer author of the Mustard Seed Family.

Q: Share a little background about yourself.

A: My name is Janell Kremer and I blog at mustardseedfamily.com.
I am a Suzy homemaker, hairstylist, teacher, mom, and wife. My daughter is almost 20 months old, and I’ve enjoyed staying home with her this last year. My husband is a musician, Mr. Fix-it, and an IT guru. I am currently pregnant with our second child and we looking forward to meeting this little miracle in April of 2015.
My blog is about mom life, where you will find great recipes, diy projects, hair tutorials, and more. Besides all that fun stuff I also share some of my heart, and a lot of my faith. My goal as a blogger is to create a place of inspiration where we can encourage one another and follow God’s calling in our lives.

Q: For God has “called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which as given to us in Christ Jesus before time began” (2 Timothy 1:9) When and how did you know what God’s plan was for you?

PicsArt_1403033371965_wmA: It took me a while to find God’s plan (while learning to give up my own), and I think it’s a continuous process that we have to choose daily. I know that I’m doing what God has called me to do because of the peace that I feel in my soul. Besides feeling at peace I have also come across many attacks from the devil to get me off the path. Those roadblocks only confirmed that I am doing what God has called me to do.

Q: Once the Lord spoke to you about your purpose did you obey right away or did you struggle?

A: I’ve struggled with obeying. I consider myself to at times act like Jonah and run away from God’s plan because it was scary. Once I started to trust and obey, God rewarded my obedience by blessing me in some way.

Q: What obstacles did you have to overcome and/or still run into?

A: My main obstacle is self-image. I am 8 years into recovery from anPicsArt_1404275638425_20140702095741536_wm (1) eating disorder and although I don’t starve myself or make myself puke anymore, I still have those thoughts in my head that I’m worthless. God is teaching me to fight those thoughts with scripture, and I can’t explain how incredibly powerful that has been.

Q: Is what you are doing currently fulfilling? In what ways?

A: Each day I face new challenges and struggles, but I do believe that what I’m doing matters. I may not see the fruits of my labor right away, but I believe that my faithfulness to God’s calling will produce an abundance of fruit later on. Being a stay-at-home-mom has been the best job that I’ve ever had, and I feel fulfilled by watching my daughter grow and learn things that I have taught her. Blogging has opened me up to a world of wonderful Christ-filled moms who are very supportive and wise. I feel as if entering that world is fulfilled the drive in me to show my creative side, which is necessary in order to keep my life balanced.

Q: Do you recall a time when you lacked peace about a job or situation and how God delivered you out of it?

A: I took a job at a daycare when I first became pregnant with my daughter. I was hired during the first interview which I found odd. Throughout my training I had an uneasy feeling about the atmosphere of that daycare that only got stronger the longer I was there. After four days I was assaulted by a ten year old child and decided that was my confirmation that this was the wrong job for me. I quit on the spot and felt peace immediately after doing so.

Q: What advice to you have for women who are still searching to fulfill their purpose?

A: Keep praying for God to reveal His purpose. Seek in not only 20141003_164607_wmthrough prayer, but also by reading the word of God daily. Also, give up your plans. They may be hindering you from God’s best for your life. Your plans may sound wonderful but if they aren’t in line with God’s will, your plans will never succeed.
