“I’m just a beggar trying to tell other beggars where to find food.”
Was a quote from the guest pastor who spoke at our church yesterday evening. To understand how powerful this statement is you must read 2 Kings chapter 7 which is where he taught last night and the importance of sharing our faith. 2 Kings 7:9 reads
Then they said to each other, “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves. If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. Let’s go at once and report this to the royal palace.”
This verse means nothing to you if you are not a believer but if you are this should weigh heavy on your heart! The moment we accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior is the moment we are also given the great commission Matthew 28:19-20…
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
I know fear can overcome us when we want to share our faith, thoughts run through your head “What if they laugh at me?” “What if they hate me?” “What if…” the list goes on but as it says in 2 Kings 7 what’s the worst that can happen to you, you die? There is no higher honor than to lose your life for the sake of the Lord, and on a personal note the joy you feel after you share the GOOD NEWS with someone is the best high you can have! After sharing my faith with my friend I was so on fire I was looking around going “Who’s next?” I still get scared and nervous and I know there are many opportunities that I miss because of it but I am praying for a heart that is for the lost so much so that all my fears don’t even matter! Like Matthew 28:20 says “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Wow what a promise and such an encouragement!
Are we not all beggars?
So to close I will say this “Go out beggars and share the bread of life with all the other beggars!!!”
Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. ~John 6:35
From A Mess To A Beautiful Mess

Sometimes I think we get complacent about our faith and salvation… we don’t remember how crucial it is, how central, and how much people need this message. If we really really owned our faith every moment of every day, believing through and through that people will be forever dead spiritually unless they have this truth, maybe we’ll speak up more. I do know I need to share my faith more.

I really pray that I am a light everywhere I go. You just never know who is standing next to you in line at the grocery store that really needs to be shown the love of Jesus. I just want to be aware at all times of the spiritually needy all around me.

Loved reading this! I grew up Catholic but we weren’t really practicing Catholics. Around 22, I became a nondenominational Christian. Fairly recently I started to become really on fire for God, and sometimes I’m nervous to let this “new side” of me show. Are people going to think I’m a Jesus freak? Are they going to avoid talking to me because they think I’m going to bring up God? I know that we are called to spread the Good Word, though! I will ask God to cast the anxiety aside so that I can help fulfill His purpose!

The devil covers us in fear and pride so much so that we end up being closet Christians. I know all to well the challenge of overcoming that and just simply becoming a Freak for Jesus! I will be praying for you and I hope you will do the same for me, let’s get crazy for Christ!! (but not weird crazy, biblical crazy)

I think we can all learn from Paul. He went through horrible persecution for speaking the gospel. Instead of asking God to take away the things that happened to him (shipwrecked, imprisoned, and beaten), he asked God to make him more bold in his faith.
“Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.” Ephesians 6:19-20
Isn’t that amazing? Let us be bold like Paul!

I try to share my faith as much as possible, but I really don’t know too many people who aren’t saved. Maybe I should make more friends.

That was my problem too, the only people I surrounded myself with were fellow believers and being a stay at home mom I didn’t go out much. Now I try to have meet ups with a mixture of people every now and then. I am also more intentionally with my regular errands, for example I pray that God would make me aware of someone who needs Him. Sorry for the long response and thank you for commenting!
